ROGER MAYER SAYS:

The Voodoo-Bass is so named because it adds a gustier bass equalization to the Voodoo-1 distortion sound. This enables players who favor single coil pickups to reproduce quite effortlessly the rounded, bluesy sound of classic pickups such as the Gibson P90. The comprehensive Gain and Tone variation provided by the Voodoo-Bass enable a very wide range of distortion sounds to be created from the compressed, just clipped sustain of traditional Chicago Blue to the sweet scream of full tube overload. This pedal also works very well with Bass Guitar as an increasing number of bass player are rediscovering the joys of adding both compression and distortion to their sound.

Electronically the Voodoo-Bass share all the same features but the equalization sections have been altered to provide a completely different set of tones.

” Sonically, the Voodoo-Bass is similar to that original Voodoo-1 pedal (as in Jimi´s “Voodoo Chile”), giving anything from a slight natural crunch to a smooth powerful distortion. At maximum gain it makes a medium-sized combo sound like something about four times bigger, but without the over-compressed wall of noise associated with most stomp boxes. In fact it allows for very dynamic playing; chug a chord from soft-and-damped to loud-and-ringing and the pedal goes with you – from quiet and relatively clean to over-the-edge grunge. Alternatively, simply control your overall volume ( and hence amount of distortion ) from your guitar´s volume knob. The Voodoo-Bass is designed to give a single coil pickup a gutsier tone, more like that of a classic humbucker. It definitely gets into same ball park… the low middle stays thick and constant no matter how the tone is set, and it´s this region that has the humbucker character – a really handy approximation for someone wanting a change of sound at the press of a button.” ” The Voodoo-Bass sounds refreshingly unboxy, and with most types of amps it does the job really professionally.”

“The voodoo-Bass is an analogue fuzz box that adds thickness to any bass-and at higher gain settings, the Voodoo-Bass simulates the tube-like sag of a full-blast vintage amp.
